On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, the PM² EU and PM² Alliance teams took part in the roundtable discussion titled “Industry 4.0: From Lab to Practice”, in the frame of the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF-HELEXPO). The aim of this event was to shed light on the numerous opportunities, promising prospects, and substantial challenges that arise from the fusion of cutting-edge research within the context of the rapidly evolving 4th Industrial Revolution.
Mr. Athanasios Fourtounas, Assistant Professor of City College, European Campus University of York & Senior Trainer of Human Asset (M.Sc., PMP, PMI-RMP, PM² Trainer) participated in the discussion as a representative of the PM² EU and the PM² Alliance, delving into the world of PM², the official project management methodology of the European Commission and the most preferred one when it comes to the management of European-funded Projects.
Mr. Fourtounas highlighted the methodology’s connection to European-funded initiatives and its pivotal role in public administration. The topics explored were diverse, encompassing research and development in the Industry 4.0 landscape, meticulous exit strategies coupled with strategic funding approaches, sustainability considerations, and an examination of the profound environmental impacts of Industry 4.0. The candid discussions revolved around the multifaceted challenges encountered by businesses navigating this dynamic realm.
Within this enriching context, Mr. Fourtounas outlined how the PM² methodology could serve as a powerful tool in addressing these challenges and, more importantly, in fostering new avenues of opportunity. After all, the adaptability of PM² empowers organisations and companies to swiftly respond to the ever-evolving marketplace and seize emerging prospects. Through the use of PM², enterprises have the chance to adeptly oversee their projects, seamlessly incorporate cutting-edge advancements into their day-to-day functions, and secure their longevity in a fiercely competitive global landscape. In essence, this fosters the emergence of fresh avenues for expansion and equips businesses to effectively address the challenges of Industry 4.0.
These stimulating conversations undoubtedly bolstered our collective understanding of the present and future prospects and challenges that the 4th Industrial Revolution brings to the fore.
As we move forward, we renew our commitment to promote the PM² methodology as an inclusive, open, and freely accessible project management framework, for both Europe and the global community.
